Reese Dixon is spending the summer before college with her estranged father in rural Mosaic Grove, Wisconsin. She unwillingly moves two thousand miles from the glitz of Malibu with her world-famous mom to the fresh air and wide open spaces of the Midwest. During her sixty-eight days, Reese works at her father’s construction and concrete company.
Reese comes to appreciate the slow-paced country way of life and Shamus Samuelson—a young apprentice and single dad with a scarred past. When she gets caught in a predicament even her fame and wealth can’t dig her out of, Reese selfishly leaves her father and Shamus behind. She escapes her roots and heads back to the comforts of her California lifestyle, three weeks before the end of summer.
Ten years later, Reese arrives back in Wisconsin as her forgotten family’s dynamics unexpectedly shift. These changes set off a series of questions about her past and future, causing Reese to reflect on personal growth and her renewed commitment to those she left behind, especially Shamus. After she finds her way home, Reese must decide if she is ready to take the chance at starting over.
